Guest Rooms at the Demi Château

The guest rooms at the Demi Château are part of a private home in the Charente, in the quiet southwest of France. They’re not hotel suites or rental properties — just carefully restored spaces, opened now and then for something more meaningful.

If you’re joining a retreat, a creative weekend, or one of the boutique getaways, these are the rooms that hold your rest. Soft light, stone walls, and views of the garden and lake — it’s quiet here, and intentionally so.

I only open the house a few times a year. If you’d like to know when, the best way is to subscribe to my newsletter or follow along on YouTube.

Chambre Bleue

Small, soft, with antique charm

This is the smallest room in the house, with a vintage French bed that hugs you in just right. I’ve been thinking of turning it into my writing room someday — it has that kind of energy.
It has a private en-suite bathroom with a toilet, shower, and a small washbasin. The bathroom is compact but has everything you need. There’s also a garden view, a simple chair, and plenty of natural daylight filtering in from above.

Details:
– 1 small double bed (French antique)
– Private en-suite bathroom
– Garden-facing window
– Located on the second floor (stairs access only)

Chambre Verte

Calm light, twin beds, and a luxurious shower

With two antique single beds that can be placed together, this room works well for friends or retreat pairings. It’s simple, but airy and bright. The en-suite bathroom is small but includes a spacious 1.10m walk-in shower. Natural daylight comes in through the translucent roof light.

Details:
– 2 single beds (can be arranged as one)
– Private en-suite bathroom
– Large walk-in shower
– Garden view
– One armchair for reading
– Second floor (stairs access only)

Chambre Rose

The largest guest room with a king bed and space to breathe

This room holds more — more light, more air, more space. It has a large 180cm bed and two upholstered chairs perfect for early morning reading or a quiet nap. The en-suite bathroom is spacious, just off the room entrance, with a walk-in shower and toilet. One caveat: the beams are low in places, and you’ll want to mind your head. But if you like rooms with character, it won’t bother you.

Details:
– 1 king-size bed (180cm)
– Private en-suite bathroom with spacious shower
– Two armchairs and seating area
– South-facing garden view
– Low beams (watch your head)
– Second floor

Shared Guest Space

Just outside the rooms is a shared landing — a quiet upstairs corridor that’s become a cozy in-between space. There’s a small sofa, a few chairs, and a sideboard with tea, coffee, and water available throughout the day. It’s not meant for socializing in large groups, but rather for soft moments — a place to write, sip, read, or breathe.

The salon and kitchen downstairs are open for meals — usually breakfast and dinner — or when the weather keeps us indoors. Outside of that, they’re part of the private space of the house.

“This is a house with boundaries. But also warmth. If you’re here during a retreat or a hosted weekend, you’re not just visiting — you’re part of a slower rhythm, for a little while.”

  • All guest rooms are located on the second floor and accessible by stairs only.
  • All rooms have been renovated with new parquet flooring and private en-suite bathrooms.
  • The house is not suitable for short-term or overnight bookings.
  • Retreats are booked separately and only a few times per year.
